maintenance of hoist rake and vfd failure analysis of 90/25 t eot crane in gas turine hall at l station phase- 1 station, jeel ali. technical s pecification 1.0#introduction duai electricity & water authority dewa owns & operates power and desalination plants at its power station complex in jeel ali. generation division of dewa operates and provides maintenance, repair and overhaul services for power generation and water production plants in dewa. safety, availaility, reliaility and cost have always een the most important priorit ies in dewa.# dewa wish to conduct detailed analysis on eot crane 90/25t through a contractor experienced in the field having requi red resources to identify the root cause of frequent main hoist rake and vfd failure, and also to identify the presentcrane design standard classification and suitaility for power plant requirements. 2.0 list of the crane 2.1 technical details of crane #m ake###:#konecranes #type###:#sm09/2f/39 # dgc #year of manufacture #:#2003 #serial no.##: #h 0420694 / 81532 #capacity ##: #90/25t #hol ###:#24.7 #span ###:#22 meters #dewa code##:#gtl-cr-900/001 # 3.0#scope of work crane inspection and identification. 3.1#p hysical verification of the complete crane including hoists components, trolley wheels, motors and gears, rakes, hook locks, wire ro pes, vfds, electrical components, girder welding mpi test, girder deflection test, gear drive motors, cale rollers, limit switches a nd fasteners etc. shall e thoroughly inspected. the test including third party inspection/ proof load test. the list of the tests recommended for this shall e included with the offer sumitted. the wear and tear found shall e compared with standard permissile limit s for the size and capacity of the crane. 3.2#all tests, welding mpi test, proof load test shall e arranged y contractor. scaffoldi ng/ man lifter, if any required to reach each component of the crane shall e arranged y contractor. 3.3#operating data/history of c rane required for the purpose of calculating dwp design working period will e provided y dewa. contractor after working class iden tification shall calculate the dwp using special software availale for the purpose, referring to international/local standard. 3.4# the report sumitted shall suggest the following: - a.#dwp design working period of equipment. .#therepair/replacements/modificat ion require to prevent rakes and vfd failure. c.#identify the present crane design standard classification and suitaility for power plant application. d.#root cause of hoist rakes and vfd failure reports to e sumit. e.#upon completion of survey detailed presentati on to e given y crane inspector on findings/recommendations. 4.0#permission to work at site 4.1#efore commencement of his work in the plant, the contractor should apply for ptw permit to work in the prescried form, otainale from dewa engineer concerned. only a fter approval of the ptw and isolation of the crane y dewa, the contractor is allowed to commence his work. 5.0#safety precautio ns: 5.1#welding, flame heating or cutting, grinding, pneumatic chipping, etc. shall ecarried out only on specific clearance from d ewa through #hot work permits#. the hot work permit shall e otained on daily asis. 5.2#while working on the crane, the contractor should arricade the area underneath the crane preventing movement of plant operators and maintenance personnel in the work area. 5. 3#operation or testing of the cranes shall e done only upon specific clearance and authorization y concerned dewa engineer. efore op erating the crane, it is required to ensure that the concerned staff are availale and it is safe to operate crane. operator having v alid license to operate eot crane will e permitted to operate cranes after sumitting relevant documents/ license etc. 5.4#the contr actor shall carry out risk/hazop analysisfor all his works. this risk analysis shall e from safety as well as occupational health considerations. he shall provide dewa with his safety plan efore commencement of work and shall otain clearance from dewa for this procedure. 5.5 all vehicles, special tools, rigging tools, inspection tools, temporary scaffoldings/platforms, ladders, test weigh ts etc., shall e inspected and tested y approved authorities and the contractor shall provide dewa with necessary certification efor e their use at site. 5.6 contractor shall adhere with dewa safety and environmental regulations. working at height will e done after using proper personal protections like safety elt, helmets etc as required. man asket used shall e in good condition andtested one. 5.7 the area of work shall e kept clean at all times efore, during and after the work. spillage and splashes s hall e avoided. in case this occurs, it should e cleaned immediately. 5.8 no wastes, detergents, thinners, paints, used luricant s, etc. shall e let to trenches, water collecting pits, each sand or sea in the plant area. all such wastes should e disposed off a s per the product safety data sheets of every waste and under approval y dewa and strictly in line with duai municipal regulations. 6.0#time schedule 6.1 the work should commence within 7 days from date of order confirmation. 6.2 the idder is required to indicate in a ar chart his time schedule for carrying out the crane inspection. 6.3# no load test y an authorized inspection shal l e done. 7.0 code of conduct for thecontractor#s staff ø#report duty in proper uniform printed legily with company logo and nor mal ppe such as helmet, safety shoe, etc. ø#all staff should use same type/color of uniform and ppe ø#carry identity card issued y dewa always and present the same at security gate and on demand. ø#always maintain discipline while oarding and alighting us for t ravelling to and from power stations ø#alight only at the location where the jo is assigned unless it is asked y concerned dewa sup ervisor. no unauthorized roaming around is permitted. ø#refrain from using process water for washing/drinking purpose as it may con tain harmful chemicals ø#keep food packets at air conditioned room and refrain from heating food using steam drains ø#do not ringin moile with camera inside plant area. ø#keep away from operating plants and equipment and do only the jo assigned y dewa supervis or ø#maintain proper duty timing ø#avoid unauthorized entry to control uilding, gas station etc. ø#get proper instruction efore w orking on acid and other chemicals. follow the work instructions and in case of dout, ask questions to clarify. ø#use ppe appropria te for the jo ø#do not engage in fighting or insulting with fellow worker and dewa staff ø#any prolem and emergency, during work, shall e communicated to concerned supervisor ø#dispose waste food, empty cups etc. only to the waste in specially provided for the purpose. ø#maintain proper discipline at work ø#use only allocated facilities and the route indicated to reach thosefacilities fo r prayer, food, wash, etc. as advised y dewa supervisor. please ask questions whenever in dout. contact mr. mohammed arif ansari tel : 0509825631
